New ambassadors and changes at head office
Bern, 02.10.2026 — Ambassadorial titles have been awarded and the following personnel changes have been decided on for 2026 and 2027 in the external network as well as at FDFA head office and the Federal Chancellery. This comes as part of the FDFA's periodic transfer rotation and is based on appointments made by the Federal Council.
New Swiss ambassadors
Salman Bal has been appointed head of Switzerland's permanent mission to the OSCE, the UN and other international organisations in Vienna. Salman Bal has been awarded the title of ambassador for his term of office.
Olivier Bangerter has been appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Republic of Azerbaijan and to Turkmenistan, based in Baku.
Didier Chassot has been appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Republic of Tunisia and the State of Libya, based in Tunis.

Natalie Kohli has been appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Republic of Kenya, the State of Eritrea, the Federal Republic of Somalia and the Republic of Uganda, and as the head of Switzerland's Permanent Mission to the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON), based in Nairobi.
