The Swiss Government PKI (SG PKI) issues certificates in accordance with the current provisions of the Federal Act on Electronic Signatures (ESigA). 

Important: Class A certificates can only be used in combination with a qualified and authorised signature application.

Regulated signature certificates – authority certificates (legal entities)

Function:

Legally regulated digital signature for organisational units

Users: Legal entities: authorised users who are permitted to sign on behalf of an authority (only for federal administration with office automation BIT)
Grade/quality of certificate issuance: Very high (verification of whether the authority is entered in public registers and verification of eligibility, including identification of the requester(s) by means of an ID card/passport
Storage medium:

Hardware (smart card) or signature service (only for federal administration with office automation BIT)
