Working at the FOITT

Our 1,200 employees are as diverse as Switzerland itself. We all have one thing in common: our goal is to work together to advance the digitalisation of the Federal Administration and help shape Switzerland's future. We are curious, challenge the status quo and implement our diverse projects pragmatically and in a targeted manner, both as individuals and as a team. We are the FOITT: the forward-looking and agile federal office.

This is how we think and work

We see success as the result of both teamplay and independent and pragmatic work. Our common goal is to advance the digitalisation of Switzerland's public services and support our customers in simplifying the lives and work of the Swiss population through digital solutions. To achieve this, everyone can and should actively contribute. We promote open dialogue and a trusting working environment. We introduced the informal ‘du/tu’ (first names) culture back in 2011.

We want to make Switzerland proud of a modern administration with end-to-end digital services for businesses and the general public. Our curiosity allows us to learn new things every day and thereby implement our diverse projects in a targeted manner. We create space for new ideas to find future-oriented solutions and drive innovation. Through our training and continuing professional development programmes, we promote the individual skills of each and every employee, and share our knowledge as a team.

How we work

We support the Federal Administration in all IT areas, from the first customer contact to the finished IT product. As our customers' specialist partners, we develop forward-looking solutions and drive innovation forward. We use a wide range of technologies and agile working methods for the large variety of customer projects we work on. In doing so, we believe in both independent work and team play.

We work in interdisciplinary teams. Everyone decides for themselves where the respective solutions are to be developed in consultation with the team. In addition to standard workspaces, our employees in Zollikofen also have access to project zones, creative spaces and quiet areas. Coffee enthusiasts will love our cafeteria, and our staff restaurants have something tasty to suit every taste and diet.

Our progressive working models are based on flexibility and security. We support our employees' individual lifestyles. In addition to part-time work, we also offer, for example, the option of annual working hours (working hours calculated over an entire year).

Learning and development

In a world of rapid technological developments and a dynamic work environment, we never stop learning: lifelong learning is therefore an integral part of our culture. We support our employees in their continuing skills development and help them to realise their full potential. Our employees have access to a wide range of different development opportunities covering a wide variety of topics. They can choose from traditional learning formats and learning modules that are not tied to a specific time or place, according to their own preferences. In our numerous communities of practice (CoP), experts and interested parties meet to expand and deepen their knowledge in a collaborative setting. We also offer courses to strengthen your own personal skills and these are tailored to your individual needs.

Family and career

We encourage a healthy balance between family and career: we are convinced that each of us can only perform at our best if we have the balance we need.

In addition to flexible working time models and mobile ways of working, we offer our employees at least five weeks' holiday. Women receive four months' maternity leave after the birth of their child, men 20 days' paternity leave.

Pensions are another important area for us: our plans offer benefits that exceed the statutory minimum. For part-time employees, a coordination deduction based on the rate of employment means that more of their salary is insured.

In the event of physical and mental health issues, our employees have access to independent counselling services for questions relating to work, relationships and family, health and finances. We help employees who have fallen ill or suffered an accident to return to work.
